Chief Member Experience Officer

Joel Swanson has over 20 years’ experience spanning technology and financial services, with 14 years in the credit union industry at two top-20 credit unions in the nation. He currently services as the Chief Member Experience Officer at VyStar Credit Union, which is headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida with $10.7 billion in assets. In this role, Joel has responsibility for all branch and contact center operations along with the credit union’s digital experience, operations and payments. His focus is on delivering a consistent, simple, and personalized experience for VyStar’s 750,000+ members, providing the resources and guidance needed to fulfill their hopes and dreams through holistic financial management.

Joel also has a focus on innovation and spearheaded the creation of a Fintech investment fund at VyStar in order to truly partner with, and learn from, the innovation occurring in this exciting space. As part of this fund he led the successful investment into Payveris, a payments Fintech company, and serves on its board. He also recently spearheaded a $20 million investment into Nymbus, a Banking-as-a-Service platform. He also serves on the founding Board and Investment Committee of the newly formed CURQL Investment Fund comprised of a coalition of credit unions working to generate a $150 million Fintech investment fund.

Joel is also involved in the community in several ways, serving on the Board of Directors for the Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens and the North East Florida Boys & Girls Club. He also recently served as the Light The Night Corporate Walk Chair for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) in north Florida.
