Greg Malmedal
Chief Financial Officer
Pinal County Federal Credit Union
Greetings WCMS students! My name is Greg Malmedal and I look forward to being your project reader. Back in 2019, I graduated with the WCMS Rho class after enjoying the experience of credit union camaraderie that you have embarked on now.
My educational background is in accounting with a B.S. Accounting degree from Regis University, a Master of Professional Accountancy from the University of South Dakota, and most recently in 2016 an MBA. For the past nine years I have enjoyed being in the credit union industry, serving in the role of CFO at Sterling Federal Credit Union in Colorado and most recently my current home at Pinal County Federal Credit Union in Arizona.
My path to the credit union industry was somewhat unconventional, but hey…it got me to the place I love. After my undergraduate degree, I actually worked as a licensed electrician for 15 years. After becoming licensed as a CPA, on August 1st, 2014, I took a leap of faith into an industry I knew very little about and became the CFO of my first credit union. Without the help of a great team that strongly believed in the credit union mantra of “people helping people”, I likely would not have survived this unique career change. Nine years later, here I am loving the credit union industry more than ever. Along with my credit union career, I am an adjunct professor of accounting at Central Arizona College.
In my free time, I am very passionate about cycling and usually put about 100 miles a week on the road getting my exercise in. I also enjoy photography, astronomy, and making beer and wine in my free time.
